Samsung has updated its One UI 2026 rollout roadmap for January 2026—a routine monthly refresh that keeps users informed about their device’s software support status. This user-centric approach helps Galaxy owners track eligibility for Android upgrades and security patches throughout the year.
As always, Samsung divides its update schedule into three tiers: monthly, quarterly, and biannual. Premium devices—including flagship phones and foldables—receive monthly security updates. Most mid-range and entry-level models, however, fall into the quarterly category. Meanwhile, only two legacy devices remain on biannual updates before reaching end-of-support.
Monthly Security Updates
Samsung prioritizes its latest Galaxy Z and S series for monthly patches. These devices typically receive monthly updates for 5–6 years—about one year less than their total software support window.
For example, a phone with 7-year support will get monthly updates for most of its lifecycle.
The full list includes:
- Galaxy Z Fold4 through Z Fold7, plus Special Edition and W-series foldables
- Galaxy Z Flip4 through Z Flip7, including FE and W Flip variants
- Galaxy S21 FE 5G up to the new S25 series, including Edge and FE models
Additionally, select Galaxy A phones and enterprise devices qualify:
- Galaxy A56 5G
- Enterprise models like Galaxy A53–A55 5G, Tab Active5 Pro, and XCover6/7 series
Quarterly Security Updates
This category covers most non-premium devices, including older flagships that have “graduated” from monthly updates. Notably, the Galaxy S21 (non-FE) and Z Fold3/Flip3 now appear here—signaling they’re in their final year of support.
Eligible series include:
- Galaxy A04 to A17, plus A23–A36 and A73 5G
- Galaxy C55 5G
- Galaxy M04 to M56, including M17 5G and M55s
- Galaxy F04 to F56, spanning budget to upper-mid-range
- Galaxy Tab S6 Lite (2024) through Tab S11 Ultra
- Galaxy Tab A9 to A11, plus enterprise Tab Active/XCover tablets
Biannual Security Updates
Only two models remain in this final tier—and both are nearing end-of-life:
- Galaxy A03
- Galaxy Tab A8
Samsung notes that these devices currently receive just two updates per year. Once they hit end-of-support, this category will disappear entirely.
Importantly, update availability may vary by region, carrier, and model. Samsung also reserves the right to adjust the monthly list as devices age or new models launch.
With the January 2026 revision, users can now plan accordingly—whether they own a brand-new Galaxy S25 Ultra or an aging Tab A8. Thanks to this transparent roadmap, Galaxy owners stay informed, secure, and in control of their device’s lifecycle.
