Samsung has officially showcased its Samsung Galaxy Z Tri-Fold prototype at the 2025 K-Tech Showcase, giving the world a glimpse of its most advanced foldable phone yet. Displayed behind glass at the Samsung booth, the tri-fold smartphone demonstrates the company’s ambition to redefine the next phase of foldable technology.

The prototype features a sleek dual-hinge setup, allowing the device to expand into a large 10-inch screen. When folded, it becomes a compact 6.5-inch phone, offering one-handed usability similar to the Galaxy Z Fold7. Although attendees could not touch the demo unit, early visuals suggest Samsung is perfecting the design for future durability and thinness.

Expected Specifications and Limited Launch

While Samsung has yet to disclose full technical details, industry leaks hint that the Samsung Galaxy Z Tri-Fold will run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and include a triple camera system. The foldable device reportedly weighs around 298 grams and will carry a premium price tag of approximately $2,800.

Production is expected to be highly limited, with only 50,000 units planned for the initial run. Launch markets may include China, South Korea, the United States, and the UAE. This exclusive rollout strategy positions the tri-fold as both a luxury innovation and a collector’s item for early adopters.

The Next Frontier in Foldable Innovation

Samsung’s move to enter the tri-fold space comes as a direct challenge to Huawei’s Mate XTs, currently the leader in triple-fold devices. The Samsung Galaxy Z Tri-Fold aims to match or surpass Huawei’s advancements in hinge engineering, software integration, and performance.

The unveiling underscores Samsung’s continued leadership in mobile design, signaling that the race for the ultimate foldable phone is far from over. As foldable technology evolves, the tri-fold form factor could become the next major leap toward the perfect balance between smartphone portability and tablet productivity.
