Samsung is already developing the Galaxy A36, set to succeed the Galaxy A35 which launched in March. A prototype of the A36 has recently appeared on Geekbench, revealing that Samsung is testing it with Android 15, which is a surprising detail since Google just launched Android 15 for its Pixel devices. Samsung is expected to roll out Android 15 with the Galaxy S25 series in January 2025, indicating that the A36 may launch after that, with Android 15 pre-installed.

Interestingly, Samsung’s Galaxy A16 5G, which was released recently, is promised to receive six major Android updates, so the A36 is expected to follow suit. If it launches with Android 15, it could eventually be updated to Android 21.
The Galaxy A36 will likely feature either the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 or the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2, based on its GPU performance in testing. The prototype tested had 6GB of RAM, but additional configurations could be available at launch. Unlike the A35, which used Samsung’s Exynos 1380 SoC, the A36 seems to be switching to a Qualcomm chipset.
