Galaxy Watch 5 Series Joins One UI 8 Watch Beta

Galaxy Watch 5 users now have something new to look forward to. Samsung has officially added the Galaxy Watch 5 and Galaxy Watch 5 Pro to the One UI 8 Watch beta program. This update allows smartwatch owners in the United States and South Korea to test Samsung’s next major wearable software before its global release.

The rollout follows the company’s gradual expansion of its beta program across the Galaxy Watch lineup. For users in eligible regions, joining the program offers a chance to experience new interface changes, improved performance, and upcoming features early. However, for those outside the US and Korea, the beta announcement may signal a longer wait for the stable update.

Beta Progress and Regional Availability

The One UI 8 Watch beta launch marks an important milestone, but progress has been slower than usual. Samsung initially promised to release stable builds before the end of the year, yet development across different models continues at a cautious pace.

Currently, only the Galaxy Watch 7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra have received the stable One UI 8 Watch version. Meanwhile, the Galaxy Watch 6 series remains in beta testing after receiving five different builds. This drawn-out testing process suggests that the Galaxy Watch 5 lineup might face similar delays before the stable update arrives globally.

What Watch 5 Users Can Expect

Galaxy Watch 5 and Watch 5 Pro owners participating in the beta can look forward to interface improvements, better system optimization, and updated fitness tracking features. The One UI 8 Watch update aims to refine Samsung’s smartwatch experience by integrating smoother animations and enhanced app compatibility.

Although this step forward excites many, it also highlights the slow global rollout pattern that Samsung has followed in recent months. Watch users in regions beyond the beta countries are still waiting for confirmation of the stable version’s timeline.

The Broader Picture for Galaxy Watch Users

While the addition of Galaxy Watch 5 to the beta program shows progress, it underscores a broader issue for Samsung’s wearable updates. Each new model seems to receive priority, leaving older ones waiting longer for feature parity.

For now, Galaxy Watch 5 users in the US and South Korea can explore the beta firmware starting today. Those who prefer stability, however, might choose to wait for the final build later this year. As for Galaxy Watch 4 users, the situation remains uncertain. Samsung has yet to confirm whether they will be invited to participate in a future beta round.

Despite the slow rollout, Samsung’s continued focus on One UI 8 Watch development shows that the company aims to refine its smartwatch ecosystem. Galaxy Watch 5 owners testing the beta will help shape the final version — one that promises improved performance, cleaner visuals, and a smoother wearable experience.
