Spotify has introduced a new feature called Offline Backup aimed at helping Premium users avoid the frustration of forgetting to download playlists before heading into areas with no signal or Wi-Fi. The feature automatically creates a playlist using your recently streamed and queued tracks, as well as tracks already cached on your device, making them available even when you’re offline.
The Offline Backup playlist evolves as you continue listening, ensuring it always has fresh content. Users can filter and sort tracks by artist, mood, or genre. Importantly, this feature doesn’t require extra data or storage, as it uses cached tracks already on your device.
The feature is rolling out globally for Spotify Premium users on both Android and iOS. It will automatically appear in the Home feed when you’re offline, provided you have listened to more than five songs recently and have offline listening enabled. Users can also add the Offline Backup playlist to their Library for easier access at any time.
