Samsung Electronics Receives EU RED Certification for Cybersecurity Compliance

Samsung Electronics has secured the prestigious EU RED Certification for its 2024–2025 TVs, monitors, and commercial displays, confirming the company’s adherence to the European Union’s Radio Equipment Directive (RED). This certification acknowledges Samsung’s compliance with updated cybersecurity rules that come into effect on August 1, 2025.

Enhanced Security Features for Global Trust

With the rise in cybersecurity threats, Samsung is placing a strong emphasis on security features across its visual display products. Taeyong Son, Executive Vice President of Samsung’s Visual Display Business, highlighted the company’s efforts to stay ahead of evolving security trends while ensuring customer trust through robust and innovative solutions.

Understanding the EU RED Certification

Introduced in 2016, the EU RED mandates safety, electromagnetic compatibility, and efficient spectrum use for radio-equipped products. In 2022, the EU expanded its cybersecurity provisions under RED to better protect personal data, safeguard against network threats, and minimize fraud risks. Starting August 2025, these updated requirements will become mandatory for all related products.

Samsung’s Commitment to Security

Samsung’s 2024–2025 visual display lineup, including TVs, monitors, digital signage, and Colour E-Paper, has been evaluated for EU RED compliance by TÜV SÜD. This certification is part of Samsung’s ongoing effort to meet global regulatory standards and reinforce its commitment to product security.

Additionally, Samsung CryptoCore, the company’s cryptographic module, received FIPS 140-3 certification from the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in 2024. Integrated into Tizen OS, Samsung’s Smart TV operating system, Samsung CryptoCore adds another layer of protection across various product lines. The Samsung Knox security platform, which has earned Common Criteria (CC) certification annually since 2015, continues to enhance security features, particularly in Samsung Smart TVs.

A Secure Future for Consumers

Samsung’s focus on comprehensive security and regulatory compliance underscores the company’s leadership in consumer device security. With these advancements, Samsung aims to offer secure, user-friendly products that meet the demands of an increasingly digital and connected world.

The company continues to drive innovation in both technology and security, ensuring its products remain at the forefront of the industry while providing consumers with the highest levels of protection.
