Galaxy Watch 8 Processor Confirmed: No Performance Boost Over Watch 7
Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Watch 8 lineup will not include a new processor, according to recent firmware findings. Instead, the company is reusing the Exynos W1000, the same 3nm chip that powered the Galaxy Watch 7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra in 2024.
Firmware Confirms Exynos W1000 for Watch 8 Series
Data uncovered from the One UI 8 Watch firmware by Android Authority revealed three key codenames—Fresh 8, Fresh 8 Small, and Wise 8—which correspond to the Galaxy Watch 8, Watch 8 (smaller size), and the Watch 8 Classic. All these models are linked to Samsung’s S5E5535 processor, also known as the Exynos W1000.
Specs Recap: Exynos W1000
The Exynos W1000 is manufactured on Samsung’s 3nm process node and features:
- A five-core CPU (1x Cortex-A78 + 4x Cortex-A55)
- ARM Mali-G68 MP2 GPU
- 32GB of internal storage
It offers 3.4x faster single-core performance and 3.7x faster multi-core performance than its predecessor, but since it’s already a year old, users expecting a leap in power with the Galaxy Watch 8 may be disappointed.
No Surprise for Samsung Watch Fans
Samsung typically uses the same chip in its wearables across two to three product generations, making this move unsurprising. However, it means the Galaxy Watch 8 won’t deliver a performance upgrade, despite other rumored enhancements in design and software.https://www.phonearena.com/reviews/samsung-galaxy-watch-8-class
