Samsung Google Cloud partnership: Samsung Electronics and Google Cloud have expanded their partnership to bring generative AI to Ballie, Samsung’s new home AI companion. It will launch this summer in the United States and Korea. Ballie will help manage home environments, adjust lighting, greet guests, set reminders, and more.
“Through this partnership, Samsung and Google Cloud are redefining the role of AI in the home,” said Yongjae Kim, Executive Vice President of the Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics. “By pairing Gemini’s multimodal reasoning with Samsung’s AI in Ballie, we unlock a new era of personalized AI. It moves with users, anticipates needs, and interacts more dynamically.”
Ballie will combine Gemini’s multimodal capabilities with Samsung’s proprietary language models. It will process various inputs, such as voice, camera visuals, and sensor data. This allows Ballie to adjust its behavior and responses. For example, if you ask, “Hey Ballie, how do I look?” it will suggest new accessories or a colorful shirt.
Additionally, with Gemini’s reasoning, Ballie will help users with their wellness routines. If a user says, “I feel tired today,” Ballie can offer advice. It can recommend exercise, optimizing sleep, or tracking sleep patterns.
This announcement builds on the previous Gemini integration into Samsung’s Galaxy S24 series. With Ballie, Samsung and Google Cloud aim to bring their AI collaboration to more devices.
“Samsung is demonstrating how to deploy generative AI with Gemini on Google Cloud,” said Thomas Kurian, CEO of Google Cloud. “This expanded partnership shows our commitment to reliable, enterprise-grade AI that delivers lasting value.”
