Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge to Retain Familiar 12MP Selfie Camera
Samsung appears committed to consistency with its upcoming Galaxy S25 Edge, keeping the same 12MP selfie camera setup it introduced with the Galaxy S23 series. Recent reports confirm that the S25 Edge will use the familiar S5K3LU sensor, also known as ISOCELL 3LU.
This move aligns with Samsung’s broader strategy of incremental hardware upgrades rather than radical changes between smartphone generations. Alongside the Galaxy S25 Edge, other models including the Galaxy S23, S23+, S24 series, and the S25 Ultra will continue to feature the same sensor.
The S5K3LU sensor specs include a 1/3.2-inch size, 1.12μm pixel size, dual-pixel autofocus, a dual-pixel RGB pattern, and support for 4K video recording at 60 fps and 1080p video at 120 fps.
Selfie samples from previous Galaxy models using this sensor have shown well-exposed images, accurate skin tones, and vibrant colors — qualities expected to continue with the S25 Edge.
Additionally, the Galaxy S25 Edge is rumored to be powered by the new Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chipset, promising strong overall performance.
Meanwhile, bigger camera upgrades are reserved for flagship models like the Galaxy S25 Ultra and Galaxy Z Fold SE, which are reportedly set to feature a 200MP main sensor.
Samsung’s decision to retain the tried-and-tested selfie camera underscores its confidence in the sensor’s capabilities, even as competition in smartphone photography intensifies.
