The Samsung Galaxy S26 Pro appears set to take the place of the standard Galaxy S26 in 2025, according to newly surfaced IMEI database records. Just a day after reports hinted at a rebranding within Samsung’s next flagship lineup, fresh evidence now confirms that the vanilla Galaxy S26 may not launch at all.

IMEI Entry Confirms the Galaxy S26 Pro

The rumor mill gained more traction today when a device labeled Galaxy S26 Pro was spotted in the GSM Association’s IMEI database. The model number listed—SM-S942U1—matches what insiders previously linked to the Galaxy S26 series. Until now, SM-S942 was widely believed to represent the base S26 model, but the updated listing under the Pro name suggests a significant pivot.

Interestingly, there had already been an older IMEI entry under the name Galaxy S26 for a similar model number. This indicates that Samsung may have changed course mid-development, scrapping the traditional “S26” branding in favor of a more premium-sounding lineup.

What Will the Galaxy S26 Pro Offer?

The burning question remains: is the Galaxy S26 Pro just a renamed base model, or will it feature hardware upgrades to justify the new branding?

At this stage, Samsung has not released any specifications, and no official teasers are available. However, some industry insiders speculate that the “Pro” tag could signal enhanced features, such as a better display, improved battery life, or more advanced cameras compared to what was initially planned for the standard model.

There’s also speculation that the S26 Edge will replace the S26+, pointing to a broader branding shake-up across Samsung’s 2025 flagship lineup.

Price Hike Expected

Rumors also suggest that Samsung may raise prices with the Galaxy S26 Pro series. Given that the Galaxy S25 started at $699 for the 128GB model, the new S26 Pro could see a higher price point, possibly exceeding $750 or more, especially if new premium specs are introduced.

If true, this would align with global trends in flagship pricing and Samsung’s move to position its core lineup closer to the high-end market.

While nothing has been officially confirmed by Samsung, the appearance of the Samsung Galaxy S26 Pro in the IMEI database strongly suggests a branding overhaul is in the works. Whether this change reflects a simple name update or comes with significant upgrades remains to be seen. What’s clear is that Samsung’s 2025 strategy is aimed at keeping things fresh—and possibly more premium than ever.
